About Us

Hello, I’m Sarah Grace: I’m the heart behind Gracefully Grazin’. A believer in real food, simple ingredients, and honoring the way God designed our bodies to thrive. With a background in agricultural business and a deep appreciation for where our food and products come from, I’ve learned that nourishment goes far beyond what we eat. Through Gracefully Grazin’, my mission is to return to time-tested, wholesome ingredients that support healing, stewardship, and intentional living: starting with tallow.

What IS Tallow?

Tallow is simply rendered beef fat: a whole-food, ancestral ingredient that humans have used for centuries to moisturize skin, protect from the elements, and support deep healing. When sourced well and prepared properly, tallow becomes a silky, vitamin-rich balm that mirrors the oils your skin naturally produces. That’s what makes it so gentle, effective, and beloved by anyone dealing with dryness, acne, eczema, or sensitivity.

And the best part?

Ours comes straight from a small local farm in Nebraska and is rendered in small batches at home: no chemicals, no shortcuts, nothing synthetic. Ever.

But Why?

Grass-fed tallow is packed with nutrients your skin recognizes and uses immediately:

Vitamins A, D, E, K, & B12 – support cellular repair + radiance

Stearic & Oleic Acid – mimic your skin’s natural sebum for deep nourishment

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) – known for anti-inflammatory + antibacterial properties

Palmitic Acid – strengthens skin barrier

Omega 3s & 6s – calm irritation + replenish moisture

Because the structure of tallow is so biologically similar to human skin oils, it absorbs effortlessly; leaving your skin soft, soothed, and glowing without pore-clogging or heaviness.

How Tallow Is Made

Tallow isn’t a factory-made ingredient. It’s real, whole fat that’s slowly rendered to remove impurities while preserving nutrients. Here’s exactly how the process works at Gracefully Grazin’:

1. Sourcing the Fat

We work directly with a local Nebraska farm that raises cattle on pasture, the way God designed—sunshine, clean grass, and ethical stewardship. Grass-fed fat is naturally:

• Richer in vitamins

• Higher in omega fatty acids

• Free from conventional chemical residues

We request suet, the clean, crumbly fat surrounding the kidneys. This is the highest-quality fat for skincare because it’s mild, low-odor, and packed with nutrients.

2. Cleaning + Trimming the Fat

Once the suet arrives, it’s:

• Hand-trimmed

• Cleaned thoroughly

• Cut into small pieces or ground

This step removes connective tissue and ensures a clean, mild final scent.

3. Slow Rendering (Low + Slow Is Key)

The chopped fat goes into a pot or slow cooker on very low heat. This slow render:

• Melts the pure oil out of the fat

• Prevents scorching (which causes odor)

• Preserves vitamins + fatty acids

Water & salt is only added in cooking tallow.

4. Straining for Purity

Once fully melted, the liquid oil is strained through:

• A fine mesh strainer

• Then cheesecloth

This removes every small piece of tissue so the tallow is clean, golden, and ready to cool.

5. Cooling + Clarifying

As the tallow cools, it transforms from a warm golden liquid into a creamy, ivory solid.

It’s rendered 3-4 times for extra clarity and an ultra-clean scent, especially for facial products.

6. Whipping + Formulating

After cooling, the tallow is gently whipped into a soft, cloud-like balm and blended with:

• Organic oils

• Herbal infusions

• Essential oils (used minimally)

Each batch is handmade in small quantities to ensure freshness, consistency, and integrity.
